NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />OCTOBER 3, 1990 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Chair Ken <br />Johnson <br />II. Members present: Carlson, Kalina, Rose, Ocel, <br />Johnson, Olson, Van Hatten and <br />Council Rep. Larson <br />absent: Eichers, Seward <br />III. Minutes of September 5, 1990 <br />MOTION BY VAN HATTEN, SECONDED BY CARLSON, TO APPROVE <br />THE MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 5, 1990 MEETING. MOTION <br />CARRIED. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />None <br />V. New Business <br />A. Community Center <br />MOTION BY VAN HATTEN, SECONDED BY OLSON, TO <br />FORMALLY ENDORSE THE COMMUNITY CENTER. MOTION <br />CARRIED. <br />B. New Brighton/Mounds View Soccer Association <br />Request <br />Representatives from the New Brighton/Mounds View <br />Soccer Association were present to request that <br />the City consider using the Miller property for <br />construction of three soccer fields instead of a <br />driving range. They pointed to the fact that over <br />two hundred New Brighton children are playing <br />soccer and that there is only one school soccer <br />field and no city soccer fields in New Brighton. <br />The Park Board didn't feel that it was in a <br />position to determine the relative investments of <br />soccer fields vs. a driving range. MOVED BY VAN <br />HATTEN, SECONDED BY OLSON, TO REQUEST THAT STAFF <br />AND CITY COUNCIL WORK TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SOCCER <br />FIELDS IN THE CITY. MOTION CARRIED. <br />VI.
