JANUARY 4, 1989 PARK BOARD MINUTES
2
Before the site plan could be finalized there needed to be 3
ponds to retain water, Noise in the area was also a concern.
Trees and shrubs will be used as noise buffers along the tennis
court.
Becky told the Park Board that the park would include:
-Tot lot area
-Tennis court
-Hard court w/basketball hoops tnot full size)
-Open play area
-Gazebo
The park can be considered an extension of people's back yards
in some cases. In the marsh/wetland area a wooden floating dock
would be used with Styrofoam to keep it about 3" above the water
line. The park is only about 6 acres. A paved trail is planned
for easy mobility.
Brandt said it looks wonderful, She stated she lives in a
townhouse and the. noise from the tennis courts is very loud,
Perhaps the tennis courts could be moved further away from the
homes.
Brenda said their intention was to keep it away from the open
play area and use trees to buffer. the .noise between homes and.
the tennis court..
Brandt said maybe the tennis courts should be put in first, that
way a home owner would have a choice of being next to it or not.
Anderson said that may not be a bad idea. The home could be
situated so that the noise wouldn't affect it so much, i,e. put
the garage on the tennis r_ourt side.
van Hatten suggested extending the trail south along the tennis
court to the street. Others also felt that would be a good
idea.
Eichers asked about parking.
Becky said there. would be on-street parking,
Johnson asked if it was taken into account that these will be
high income homes,
Brenda said yes.
Johnson said he was told that even though the homes are
expensive, there may be quite a few younger families with small
children.
