Maurice Anderson September 30, 1988
New Brighton Parks and Recreation Dept.
1975 Silver LaKe Road
.New Brighton, MhJ .55112
Dear iNaur i e,
On Sunday, September 25th, the congregation of the United Church of
Christ in New Brighton held a special. congregational meeting to consider
a resolution authorizing the Trustees Board to coney to the City an
easement for walkway purposes. along our southern property line. After
much discussion, and one arnendnent, the Resolution was adopted. •.
The amendment mentioned above was prompted by concern o~~er the
possibility that the easment might someday be used far some purpose
other than as a walkway. The amendment was inserted after paragraph two
and reads as follows:.
WHERERS, the City of New Brighton agrees that the easement will be
solely for the purpose of construction and maintenance of said walkway
and that the easement will terminate if used by the City of New Brighton
for any other purpose.
Qther concerns which were raised were as follows:
~- Several in the Congregation were concerned about the
proximity of the reconstructed driveway to the Church
building; specifically, the effect that the heavy school.
tw s traffic might have on the foundation of the building
and the effect that changing the water runoff pattern
might have on the water integrity of the lower level of
the Church.
- There was concern that snowmobiles might use the path and
the installation of posts was suggested to present it.
- Several were concerned about maintaining complete
separation of traffic flow on the .path from Church.
parking "l trt°°~arF#l-:,d~ i v~waY=#r~rf~fi~r"°t~ft-oFa . 3'"t'~a~'=sugt~~~~d`~=-- ,~.=>'~~.<-.~, ,.: ~ , -~~~r
x. __ _
that continous curbing is needed along all areas where
the path is ad,iacent to the parking or driveway areas.
Please review the Resolution as amended and de#ermine if it is
acceptable to the. City. Also please respond to the other concerns
listed above. Kindly forward your response to the following address:
Trustees Board
United Church of Christ in New Brighton
tto Jeff Benson
757 96th Lane N.E.
Blaine , P'W 55434
Sincerely,
Jeffrey t_.
