ew
~' righton
M
M
•
C`J
P
~, December 30, 1987
Q
~-
n
w. To: New Brighton Park Board
~ From: Maurice H. Anders,~ector of Parks and Recreation
z Re: Harstad Companies/Pecks Woods
Q
~-
~ The city,. .n March of 1983, rec~:ived a petition from residents in
~ the Peeks Woods/North Innsbruck area requesting park development
w in their area. Attached are reports, minutes, etc. that
z
o chronicle the events following submission of the. petition.
Q
o The land in question has recently been purchased by Harstad
~ Companies and they have indicated that they are planning
development of portions of the site in 1988.
J
~ This is one of the largest remaining undeveloped tracts of land
in the city and it is staff' s opinion that this tract should be
-~ planned as a unit and that s ome recreational amenities should be
~ included in the development. The city has two parks in the area.;
~ Freedom, and Hidden Oaks, however access to both parks is
~' somewhat limited. The city also owns 4 acres of land in this
~ area, no use has ever been defined for this property.
z
~ Ken Briggs .has been invited to meet with staff and to attend the
~ Park Board meeting; to date he has not contacted staff. The Park
Q Board should be prepared to work with Mr. Briggs to formulate a
w plan that will satisfy park needs for residents of this area.
0
z
0
a
W
W
0
z
a
Y
Q
~•
