Benke replied <br /> that the County has no plans to redevelop the roads. Black added that the developers are anxious <br /> to upgrade the roads before the development begins. Benke asked if there had been any <br /> discussion with the County and State about the City paying for the redevelopment and then <br /> getting aid or pay back later. Black replied that will most likely be the approach. Benke added <br /> that the same approach could be used for the replacing the bridge over 694,which may be the <br /> only way to have these projects get done. <br /> Property Acquisitions <br /> Black suggested that the railroad wye discussion be deferred to next month. He is optimistic <br /> about getting purchase agreements on all three remaining properties. <br /> Demolition <br /> Black reported that the demolition has started and has been going well. St. Paul District Energy <br /> will be removing the tree debris by March 1st; it should take three to four weeks to remove all of <br /> the material. <br /> Brighton Village <br /> Black reported that the City is still waiting for site plans and no new announcements have been <br /> made. Champps will be adding an outdoor patio this spring. <br /> Other Business <br /> Harmon strongly recommended that the commissioners bring their family and friends to the <br /> neighborhood meetings and that the City do a brief history of the Northwest Quadrant at those <br /> meetings. Johnson also added that the history would make a good public interest story for the <br /> Bulletin. <br /> Motion by Kaufhold, seconded by Nelson, to RECOMMEND THE STAFF PURSUE <br /> REPLACING THE I-694 BRIDGE BY HAVING THE CITY PAY FOR THE <br /> CONSTRUCTION WITH THE COUNTY AND STATE REIMBURSING THE CITY AT <br /> A LATER TIME. <br /> All approved. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> Black announced that the Business Council meeting will be held at the end of the month and <br /> asked if any of the commissioners would be able to make telephone calls to the area businesses. <br /> Harmon,Nelson and Kaufhold all indicated that they would help. <br /> Motion by Benke, seconded by Harmon, that THE COMMISSION EXTENDS ITS <br /> CONGRATULATIONS, THANKS AND APPRECIATION TO KEN JOHNSON. <br /> With Johnson abstaining, all approved. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> Adjournment <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 a.m. <br />
