MINUTES <br /> New Brighton Economic Development Commission <br /> Regular Meeting—June 14, 2005 <br /> 7:00 a.m. <br /> Members/Liaisons Present: Bob Benke, Gene Delaune, Sharon Doffing, Dennis Flahave, <br /> Linda Harmon, Lisa Harreld, Shannon Meyer, Mark Nelson, Ken Johnson, John Kaufhold, and <br /> Gary Stang. <br /> Members/Liaisons Absent: Steve Larson. <br /> Staff Present: David Black and Jennifer Lavandowska. <br /> Call to Order <br /> Linda Harmon called the meeting to order at 7:03 a.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> The minutes of the May 10, 2005 meeting were ented for val. All approved. <br /> Northwest Quadrant Report <br /> Planning <br /> Black reported that the Northw Qua t co as presented at a meeting on June 7tn <br /> Council and commission mem e d er citizens, about 50 in all, were present. Geoff <br /> Martin of DSU handled tbQrity th Todd Stutz of Rottlund/David Bernard <br /> and Chris Winter of SA-man each contributing portions. The presentations went well and the <br /> questions were reasonably <br /> The Library : wil looking at library service options in this portion of the county. We do know from <br /> discussibr -with new h, . director Sue Nemitz that the mixed-use concept for the Northwest <br /> Quadrant is very ap•ealin: • the Library Board. Delaune suggested that the City offer the <br /> concept of\coffee - ithin the library, similar to the Roseville branch. He suggested that it <br /> would be a at Belli' _ point for both the City and the library. Several Commission members <br /> expressed thei ap royal of the library in the Northwest Quadrant.. <br /> Harmon asked if there was a sign-up list for housing at that the meeting on June 7t. <br /> Lavandowska stated that roughly twenty people called after the meeting to have their names also <br /> placed on the list. <br /> Harreld wondered if the developers had kept in mind access to Long Lake Regional Park and <br /> how the development would look from the park. Black indicated that the plans call for a trail, <br /> but not a road. The developer would like to connect to the park and is supportive of a trail. <br /> Black identified four meetings that the City needs to have in the immediate future: 1)parks and <br /> trails, 2) engineering of the pond, 3) the appearance of Old Highway 8, and 4) financial. <br />
