becoming part of the development. Black responded that Snyder's was not willing to accept <br /> higher rents for the new building and thus had to pull out of the plan. He also stated that the <br /> bank's manager wants to build a new building, but that the bank executives have not committed <br /> to rebuilding. Harmon had spoken with the executive that handles all remodeling for the bank; <br /> he stated that the corporation considers New Brighton a mature neighborhood and they were only <br /> building new banks in areas with new housing. <br /> Benke asked if it was possible that Kraus-Anderson would reconsider moving the road through <br /> the development as originally suggested. He feels that the City should be aggressive in making <br /> that plan happen. Black replied that it was a possibility and that the City would be very <br /> supportive of that plan. <br /> Business Council <br /> The Business Council meeting on July 28th was attended by about 15 people, a bit smaller than <br /> normal, but due to vacations no one was able to call and invite them personally. Grant and <br /> David provided updates on redevelopment projects. There were some questions, but no new <br /> topics were brought up. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for the last week of October. <br /> Other Business <br /> Black reported that the City had applied for four different EPA grants last November. The City <br /> has won three of the grants. Starting next week the City will have a new staff member, Ken <br /> Nimmer, to help with the second phase of the grant application. <br /> Delaune congratulated the City on acquiring the new post office. <br /> Harmon suggested that the City give the block captains flyers to hand out announcing the Town <br /> Hall meeting that is coming up in October. She would like to see a more diverse group of <br /> people attend the meeting. She also announced that this week is Stockyard Days and encouraged <br /> participation. <br /> Adjournment <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 8:34 a.m. <br />
