Approved
Schedule
Black reviewed a schedule of major dates, mostly taken from the proposed housing agreements.
Brighton Village
Black reported that fences have been put around the site. Larson announced that demolition
would start on Friday, December 16. Delaune asked if the bank property will be part of the
development. Fernelius replied that is currently the understanding that of City staff. Black
reported that Kraus-Anderson has not yet submitted a revised site plan.
Chamber of Commerce
Nustad passed out a flyer summarizing the services offered by the Chamber. Fulton inquired if
the Chamber had made a decision regarding eminent domain. Nustad stated the Chamber had
not taken a position, but their stance will be similar to that of the Minnesota Chamber. Fulton
suggested that the Chamber has not been an effective advocate for the City of New Brighton.
Nustad replied that the Chamber is making changes and hopes to be a better advocate. Kaufhold
wondered if the eminent domain issue would affect the Northwest Quadrant. Black explained
that there are three properties that the City still has not purchased, so depending how the state
rules, it could affect the entire development.
Other Business
Black announced that Johnson will be stepping down from the Commission. Johnson indicated
that he will miss the EDC and that he has greatly enjoyed being on the Commission. City staff
and the Commissioners stated that they would miss his presence on the EDC.
Fulton also announced that seats of three commissioners will be are up for appointment. These
commissioners can apply for another commission or reapply to the EDC. In early January the
Council will appoint commissioners and their three-year terms will start.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 8:44 a.m.
