Business Council
Black reported that the Business Council meeting was held on the October 31st and Nustad gave
a presentation that was well received. There was also a discussion about security issues among
some of the businesses. Attendance was about what it has been for the last several meetings.
Black added that the invitee list would be reevaluated for the next meeting, with a goal to beef up
the attendance. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for the last week in January.
City Manager
Larson announced that Dean Lotter has been hired as New Brighton's new City Manager. He
will begin his position on February 1, 2007 and has already started looking at homes within the
City. He is presently working for the City of Minnetrista. Larson added that on the night of the
public reception the Council was able to meet with each candidate for forty-five minutes apiece.
At the end of the evening the Council unanimously decided on hiring Lotter. Lotter is very
excited to come to New Brighton.
Other Business
Kaufhold inquired if the boulder storage on the Butcher's Spur could be moved to tracks near
Belair. Larson replied that the land in that area is owned by the federal government; therefore
nothing could be stored on that land. Black added that Belair is also in process of trying to
purchase that land.
Nustad reported that the Arden Hills EDC hosted a luncheon where they showcased a warehouse
that was converted into office space with the help of the City and a developer. They had about
60 business people attend; if New Brighton is interested in hosting an event like that the
Chamber would be willing to help set it up.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 a.m.
