Other Developments <br /> Brighton Village <br /> Black reported that there has been no change on Brighton Village and staff is hoping to hear <br /> from Kraus-Anderson some time this spring. Stang noted that LA Fitness is opening a new <br /> location at Northtown Mall, and is hopeful that this means it will also go in at Brighton Village. <br /> Kaufhold inquired if Sinclair has removed its tanks. Williamette replied that they have removed <br /> the tanks. Stang inquired who the new owner is. Black replied the manager of the station <br /> purchased the site and he recently called to see how the development at Brighton Village was <br /> progressing. <br /> Marv's Transmission <br /> Black reported that the development is still progressing. The developer has found another tenant <br /> that will occupy most of the building. <br /> Champps <br /> Larson stated that he recently had a conversation with the manager of Champps who indicated <br /> that the owners realized they missed an opportunity to put in the patio last summer and will try to <br /> put it in this year. <br /> Year in Review <br /> Black noted that old minutes show that the Commission used to take time to review each year <br /> and set goals for the upcoming year. He feels that this would be a good opportunity to review <br /> the Commission's duties and responsibilities. He pointed out that when the commission was first <br /> established it mainly dealt with commercial and industrial projects and has morphed into dealing <br /> with housing and all types of redevelopment projects. Delaune suggested that the EDC advise <br /> and make more recommendations and motions than it has in the past. Black noted that staff can <br /> do a better job at setting up for a motion if the commission would like. Larson added that staff <br /> provides the Council with all commission minutes, and the motions and recommendations are <br /> shown. <br /> Hoffman stated that the last time the commission responsibilities were revised was in the 1990s <br /> and the Council will be looking at all commissions' responsibilities at the April retreat. Harmon <br /> recommended that the each commissioner come up with priorities for the March meeting. She <br /> recalled that five or six years ago the Commission members each made a"wish list" for the City. <br /> Kaufhold inquired if there was a chance that the EDC could be consolidated with the Planning <br /> Commission. Larson replied that there is no thought of consolidating any of the commissions. <br /> Larson added that the commission should ignore the "naysayers"who suggest that this project <br /> should have never been approved and rejoice in any bad news that comes up regarding the <br /> project. He feels that they represent only two or three percent of the population, the rest suggest <br /> that the City"do what you need to get done and make sure it's done correctly." He stated that <br /> this commission is integral in making the best decisions for the community. The figures for the <br /> estimated cleanup costs have been the "worst case" scenario.
