The Mayor held the Public Safety Steering Committee meeting for the
National League of Cities and there were tours of the Public Safety Building and
help setting policy for public safety. Council Member Burg also mentioned the
Open House for City Hall will be held October 26th from 6:00— 8:00 p.m..
She also reviewed the polling place changes.
Public Hearing : There were no applications for consideration.
General Business: Discussion of Applewood Pointe housing concept.
The project is a senior cooperative site. It would be four levels with 110 units, bay
windows and a three season porch. There would be about 20 variations ranging from 900
to 1600 sq. ft. There would be 2 bedroom and 2 bedroom/den units.
A consultant for United Properties described the property, saying it is unique with natural
amenities. They want to fit the building into the topography of the land. They want to
save some existing trees on the site and maintain as much existing plant material as
possible. They talked about a recently completed United Properties project in Roseville
that is going very well. The price of the units has not been determined yet, but they are
putting a pricing packing together and will have focus groups give their input. They plan
input and marketing areas of New Brighton and surrounding cities and churches.
L\COMMISSIONS\PLANNING\Minutes\2004\10 19 04.doc
