i. <br /> Approved <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS <br /> CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> Regular Meeting—July 19, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. <br /> Present: Commissioners Larry Baker, Karen Mann, Bruce Howard,Norm Schiferl, <br /> Tom O'Keefe, Jim O'Brien and Paul Zisla <br /> Also Present: Patrick Boylan, City Planner and Mary Burg, City Council <br /> • Agenda Review: No changes <br /> • Approval of Minutes: The April 19, 2005 minutes were approved. <br /> • Council Action: City Council Member, Mary Burg reported that Stock Yard <br /> Days runs from August 11 through Aug 14 and the Mounds View Community <br /> Theater is showing Fiddler on the Roof at Irondale High School now through July <br /> 31. <br /> Public Hearing: VN05-02 Lot Width Variance for 1795 Long Lake Rd. <br /> Consideration of a request for a Variance to the lot width requirement in the R-1, Single <br /> Family Residential district. The subject site is 60 feet wide; the minimum width for lots <br /> in the R-1 District is 75 feet. The applicant wishes to demolish the existing one-story <br /> structure and construct a new single family home on the site. <br /> Mr. Boylan reported that he had received two telephone calls in regards to this <br /> application. The first gentleman was concerned that the back lot would be developed into <br /> multi-family or high density housing. Mr. Boylan reassured the caller that the application <br /> was not for multi-family housing and that idea would not be supported by staff as the <br /> surrounding area is single family residential. After receiving the explanations the caller <br /> was in favor of the application. The second caller, who Mr. Boylan had not spoken with <br /> directly,was concerned with water drainage on this property. Mr. Boylan was not sure if <br /> this is an ongoing problem or if the caller is concerned that a new house would cause <br /> drainage problems. Mr. Boylan stated that all new construction is required to follow <br /> City standards for storm water run off. <br /> Commission Howard asked if there were additional buildings on the property. Mr. <br /> Boylan responded that there were two additional buildings on the property, one is a <br /> garage with an extended drive and the second is a twelve foot shed.
