Rules for operation. Every person riding a bioycle <br /> <br />in the Village of New Brighton shall conform to the regulations imposed by <br />Minnesota Statutes Annotates, Section 169.221. <br /> <br />Section 5. Equipment. <br />(1) Every bicycle when in use at night time shall be equipped with <br />a lamp on the front which shall emit a white light visible from a <br /> <br />distance of at least 500 feet to the front and~th a red reflector <br /> <br />on the rear of a type approved by the Commissioner of Highways which <br /> <br />is visible from all distances from 50 feet to 300 feet to the rear <br /> <br />when directly in front of lawful upper beams of head lamps on a motor <br /> <br />vehicle. A lamp emitting a red light visible from a distance of <br /> <br />500 feet to the rear may be used in addition to the red reflector. <br /> <br />(2) Every bicycle shall be equipped with a brake which shall <br /> <br />enable the operator to make the brake wheels skid on dry, level, <br /> <br />clean pavement. <br /> <br />Section 6. Damaging or removing tags - using bicycle without <br /> <br />permission. No persons shall deface, mutilate or remove a license tag <br /> <br />attached to a bicycle or use another's bicycle on a street without the consent <br /> <br />of the owner. <br /> <br />Section 7. Parents responsibility. It is unlawful for the parent <br /> <br />of any minor ohild and the guardian of any ward to authorize or knowingly <br /> <br />permit his child or ward to violate any provision of this ordinance. <br /> <br />Section 8. Enforcement. <br /> <br />(1) The Chief of Police may suspend for not more than 30 days or <br /> <br />may revoke any bic.ycle license upon proof that the license has been <br /> <br />obtained by fraud or misrepresentation or for the violation of any <br /> <br />of the terms of this ordinance. but a hearing shall first be held <br /> <br />upon five days written notice to the owner of the bioycle. No <br /> <br />license shall be issued for any bicycle, the license of which has <br /> <br />been revoked, until one year after revocation, unless the bioycle <br /> <br />has changed ownership; and no lioense shall be :issued for any bicyole <br /> <br />acquired by a person whose bicycle license has been revoked within <br /> <br />the year prior to the application for the new license.
