Director Jacobson noted the following items: <br />~ Detective Lochen is working on the robbery of the Domino's Pizza delivery man; <br />there are suspects. <br />a The mercury spill at St. John's was discussed briefly; good response by our <br />department and the North Suburban Haz Mat Team. <br />o The police division annual meeting was held on February 2°d. Sgt. Mary Bitzan-Hieb <br />was recagnized as the 2006 Police Officer of the Year and Officer Tom Griffin was <br />awarded the 2006 Traffic Safety Officer of the Year. <br />o Officer Carla Cincotta resigned as she accepted an offer to return to the State of <br />Minnesota, Division of Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement. <br />~ Public Safety Officer Nick Pellegrin resigned his position; acccptiirg a job as a <br />dispatcher far Sherburne County. <br />Comm. Kelly made a motion to approve all of the Department Repurl5; Cornet. <br />Grimshaw seconded. Motion carried. <br />Council Report <br />Council Representative Gina Bauman noted the following items: <br />o Council decided to eliminate 3 hales of the disc golf course; making it a 12-hole <br />course. This will hopefully alleviate the parking issue on 12~' Ave NW. An update on <br />this issue will be asked for at the May 2?°`~ meeting: <br />Public Hearin <br />Stop Sign Reauest -McCallum Drive at Riviera Drive <br />Director Jacobson stated a petition was received by the City Council from the residents in <br />this area asking for a stop sign at the intersection of McCallum and Riviera. The petition <br />was referred to the Fublc Safety Corninssion for review and recommendations. <br />Grant Wyffels, T)ir~~ctor of Public Works, noted the following items from the traffic <br />study: <br />a the site distau~c exceeds 70 feet in all four directions of the intersection. <br />o the traffic crnu~ts ;~r~ typical of local residential streets; indicating they carry very <br />little through traffic. <br />o speed cart survey results showed an average speed of 23 mph on McCallum and 19 <br />mph on Riviera; the 85th percentile speeds were 28 mph and 23 mph respectively. <br />o in the analysis section, Mr. Wyffels reviewed the guidelines fora 4-way stop sign, a <br />2-way stop sign and yield signs; none of the criteria is met to warrant any of these signs. <br />The recommendation from Mr. Wyffels is to deny the stop sign request. <br />There was lengthy discussion between the Public Safety Commission members and <br />residents in attendance wanting to voice their support for a stop sign in their <br />neighborhood at this intersection.
