Minutes

New Brighton Planning Commission
Special Meeting - May 7, 1998
7:00 p.m.

Call to Order
O’Brien called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Roll Call
Present:

Jim O’Brien,, Jeff Schopf
Norm Schiferl, David Schmitz
Absent:
Larry Baker, Mike Livingston, and Paul Zisla
:
Also Present
Erny Mattila, Project Manager
Charles LeFevere, City Attorney

General Business

Review of Draft of MX District
Mattila reviewed the draft of the MX District. The Commission commented that under Section 6-520 (B),
hotels should be included. Also under Section 6-540, the Commission felt a new high intensity office site
category should be added. The Commission felt more incentive should be added under Section 6-540 (E) to
encourage corporate campus developments. Under Section 6-550 (C), the Commission felt the 25 foot
setback was appropriate from right of ways, but that internal side and rear yard setbacks should be the same
as in I-1 districts; 15 and 20 feet respectively. The Commission also commented that there should be more
alternatives for building materials under Section 6-560 (A); steel curtain walls and precast concrete walls
were mentioned.

Comp Plan Task Force
The Commission recommended this item be continued to the regular Commission meeting on May
19 due to several members being absent. Commissioner O’Brien indicated he would be interested
in serving on the task force.

Adjourn
Motion by Schopf and seconded by Schiferl to adjourn at 9:00 PM.

I:\COMMISSIONS\PLANNING\MINUTES\1998\05-07-98.WPD
