<br />Approved <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Regular Meeting - March 20, 2001 <br /> <br /> 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> Commissions Larry Baker, Jim O’Brien, Tom O’Keefe, Norm Schiferl, Jeff Schopf, and Paul Zisla. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> David Schmitz. <br /> <br />: <br /> <br />Also Present <br />Mark Andrle, Community Development Specialist <br />Patrick Boylan, City Planner <br />Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br />Char Samuelson, City Council Liaison <br /> <br />Minute Approval <br />· - January 16 and February 20, 2001, meeting minutes were approved. <br /> <br />Agenda Review <br />· -The agenda was adopted as written. <br /> <br />Council Update <br />· - Council approved the purchase of the Brighton Bowl property which allows for the future <br /> <br />development of the Northwest Quadrant. <br /> <br />Public Hearing: 2700 Linden Drive Rezoning from B-1, Business, to R-3B, Residential <br /> <br />This action would bring the site into compliance with the Comp. Plan which calls for the future land use of the site to Medium <br />Density Residential which is typically town homes. <br /> <br />Norman Loren, on behalf of Richard Loren, noted concern of possible property classification conflicts for that area zoned <br />Limited Business which resides south of the proposed residential parcel. <br /> <br />Eric Lund, Innsbruck Estates Homeowners Association President, stated support for the rezoning. <br /> <br /> CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING <br />Motion by Baker, seconded by O’Brien, to. 6 Ayes - 0 Nays, Motion Carried. Hearing <br />Closed. <br /> <br />Schiferl asked if the future development of a townhome project would require a private street access. Community <br />Development Specialist Mark Andrle stated there may be a need to provide a private street access. Baker noted the <br />importance of avoiding situations which could create access difficulties for nearby businesses. <br /> <br />RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF R01-3, REZONING THE SUBJECT <br />Motion by Schiferl, seconded by O’Brien, to <br />PROPERTY FROM B-1, LIMITED BUSINESS TO R-3B, MEDIUM DENSITY RESIDENTIAL. <br /> 6 Ayes - 0 Nays, <br />Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Public Hearing: 222 New Brighton Road rezoning from R-1, Residential, to B-2, Business <br /> <br /> <br />The purpose of this request is to bring the site into compliance with the Comp. Plan which calls for the future <br />land use of this site to Neighborhood Business. The existing use (beauty salon/therapeutic massage) would be <br />in compliance under the B-2 District subject to approval of a Special Use Permit.
