Often, cars are parked in front of the driveway.
Has Brightondale changed its parking yet to allow visitor parking underground? Brightondale has big signs
specifying that overflow parking use shopping center parking lot. On the front of the Brightondale building,
there is an illegal sign.

Teague responded staff has addressed the sign issue. Brightondale allows visitors to park underground. Baker
said the sign, however, directs visitors to use the Rice Creek Center lot. Baker stated many cars park in front
of the door every day.

Teague stated that currently it is difficult to track all of the conditions for approved plans. Teague suggested
establishing a data base of approved plans such as nonconforming use permits and special use permits. Then,
six months after approval, staff could verify the plans to ensure compliance. Baker agreed that using
computer technology to track these plans would be the way to monitor these approved plans.

Schiferl stated we should monitor the Minneapolis Water Works site for compliance with the approved
landscape plan. Teague said the project was not finished. The neighbors are closely watching the progress and
will certainly let staff know about any concerns.

Adjourn
A.5A-0N.MC.
Motion by Baker, seconded Schopf,
TO DJOURN THE MEETING YES AYS OTION ARRIED

_______________________________________
Cary Teague, City Planner

14
I:\COMMISSIONS\PLANNING\MINUTES\1999\02-16-99.WPD
