The road will be reduced from 44
feet wide to 38 feet wide, with parking on both sides and a sidewalk on the left side of the road.

Agenda Review
An additional item, the Northwest Quadrant Master Plan, was added to the agenda.

Northwest Quadrant Master Plan
Bishop referred to the handouts provided to the Commission. The Economic Development Commission
(EDC) is beginning to study the redevelopment issues in the Northwest Quadrant. Bishop briefly reviewed
the handout materials and asked the Planning Commission for comments on the alternatives outlined in the
handout.

Baker said he would prefer a plan brought forth by a developer because a developer would understand the
market. A plan developed by the staff and commissions would be a waste of effort. Zisla agreed that a
developer would have the experience and know the risks. Zisla stated he could not even imagine the City
taking that kind of control.

Schmitz asked about the staff’s opinion on taking control of the entire project. Bishop answered that staff felt
it would be exciting to have the entire project under City control.

I:\COMMISSIONS\PLANNING\MINUTES\1999\04-20-99.WPD
