<br />Planning Commission Minutes –July 17, 2001 Page 3 <br /> <br />Patrick Boylan summarized the proposed Amendments to the Planned Unit Development Ordinance <br />(PUD) and the Amendments of the B-4 Downtown Business District. <br /> <br />Nancy Kneeland of 1070 Robin Court, asked Patrick Boylan for further explanation of what it means <br />to do the two-thirds instead of the four-fifths vote with the council. It was explained it makes it more <br />consistent with state law with no practical impact. <br /> <br />CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING. <br />Motion by Zisla, seconded by O’Brien to 5 Ayes – 0 Nays. <br />Motion Carried. Hearing closed. <br /> <br />Motion by Schiferl, seconded by Zisla, to adopt the changes to Chapters 5 (B-4, Downtown Business <br />Zone) and Chapter 7 (Planned Unit Development). <br /> <br />5 Ayes – 0 Nays, Motion Carried. <br /> <br /> <br />BRIGHTON VILLAGE UPDATE: <br />David Black gave an update of the revised site plan for the redevelopment of the Brighton Village <br />Shopping Center. <br /> <br />There will be a total of three public meetings to provide public comments on the plans. The council <br />th <br />will have this on their agenda on August 8. <br /> <br />IRONDALE HIGH SCHOOL UPDATE: <br />Elaina Peltsman, a representative from the architectural firm, Armstrong Torseth Skold & Rydeen <br />reported back on solutions to concerns from the commissioners regarding the stark white gym wall <br />facing Long Lake Road. Ms. Peltsman outlined a plan for warming up the façade of the building <br />using various means, including trees and vines for screening, use of warmer colors and striping, <br />decorative joints extending to the full height of the building, creating a shadow line/texture <br />appearance. The school name will be visible through decorative lighting and there will be some glass <br />on the doors. <br /> <br />Planning Commissioners thanked Ms. Peltsman for updating the City; Commissioner O’Brien asked <br />staff if the changes were acceptable.
