<br />PLANNING COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting 05-21-02 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Present: <br />Commissioners Jim O’Brien, Thomas O’Keefe, Paul Zisla, Norm Schiferl, <br /> <br />David Schmitz, and Jeff Schopf <br />Absent: <br />Larry Baker <br />APPROVED <br />Also Present: <br /> Patrick Boylan, City Planner <br /> Kim Moore-Sykes, City Council Member <br /> Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br /> <br />? <br /> Minute Approval - <br /> March 19, 2002 <br />? <br /> Agenda Review - <br /> Add C-7: Discussion of Temporary Signs along <br />Silver Lake Road. <br />? <br /> Council Action - <br /> Council Member Kim Moore-Sykes <br />Reported the Silver Lake Road Reconstruction Project <br />has been the major focus. <br /> <br />Public Hearing – Special Use Permit – Brightwood Hills Municipal Golf Course – <br />LP02-005 / SP02-002 <br />To consider an application for site plan review and special use permit to add onto an existing <br />th <br />16 foot fence near the 8 fairway of Brightwood Hills Municipal Golf Course. <br />The proposed addition would be a chain link fence 16 feet high and 140 feet in length. The <br />proposed fence would be of the same style and materials as the existing fence. The purpose <br />is to further protect homes on the south side of Greenview Drive. Fences for special <br />purposes and fences differing in construction, height, length or location from the <br />requirements of this Section may be permitted in any district in the City by the issuance of a <br />special use permit approved by the City Council. <br /> <br />Commissioner Schiferl asked how neighbors felt about the proposed fence. Mr. Boylan <br />reported at least one resident was concerned about golf balls and had been asking about a <br />fence. No negative comments had been received. <br /> <br />Mary Berg, New Brighton Park and Recreation Department, spoke as a representative of the <br />golf course in support of the fence to protect golfers and homeowners. <br />Mr. Bill Moses of 2375 Hamilton Court addressed the Planning Commission to make sure <br />there were no plans for a fence that would be blocking the view from his property. He was <br />assured that is not the plan. <br /> <br /> CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING. <br />Moved and seconded to 6 Ayes, 0 Nayes, Motion <br /> <br />Carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Schiferl, Seconded by Zisla to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT THE <br />RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF LP02-005 / SP02- <br />ATTACHED RESOLUTION <br />002, <br />SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: <br /> <br /> <br />1.Fence post placement is approved by City Forester. <br /> <br />
