<br />Approved <br />PLANNING COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting September 16, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br />Commissioners Larry Baker, Jim O’Brien, Norm Schiferl, Tom O’Keefe, <br /> <br />Karen Mann, Jeff Schopf and Paul Zisla <br /> <br /> <br />Absent: <br />All present. <br /> <br />Also Present: <br />Patrick Boylan, City Planner, Anne Hoffman, City Council Member <br /> <br /> <br />? <br /> Minute Approval - <br /> August 19, 2003, with amendment that <br />Tom O’Keefe was present at the meeting. <br /> <br />? <br /> Agenda Review – <br />No changes. <br />? <br /> Council Action - <br /> Anne Hoffman, City Council Member, <br />reported on the following: <br /> <br />The council issued a provisional license and approved mitigation <br />plan for Timbercrest Apts. <br /> <br /> Brighton Village came before the Council at the last meeting, as <br /> well as an attorney for Sinclair. <br />Ramsey County District Court is seeking to centralize all court <br /> <br /> activities in St. Paul proper with no suburban location. The City <br /> Council wrote a letter and also passed a resolution in support of <br /> a suburban location. <br /> The Council set the Truth in Taxation Hearing for Monday, <br />stth <br /> December 1, and if needed, December 8 for a backup hearing. <br /> Councilwoman Hoffman also reported the election is set and there <br />are three candidates running for Mayor, three candidates running <br />for the remainder of Char Samuelson’s seat—2 years left on that, <br />and four candidates running for 2 four year terms. <br /> <br />Public Hearing: SP 03-09 – Special Use Permit for a proposed detached garage <br />larger than 400 sq. ft. – Mr. Tom Chies, Jr. <br />Consideration of a request to construct a garage larger than 400 sq. ft. on a single family <br />th <br />lot at 888 6 St. SW. The site is zoned R-1, Single Family Residential. <br /> <br />Mr. Boylan reviewed the background information and Site Plan for the Commissioners. <br />The applicant desires to construct a 988 sq. ft. detached garage on the site. Presently, <br />has an existing garage. Mr. Boylan reviewed the relevant zoning codes. <br /> <br />The applicant, Tom Chies, Jr., addressed the Planning Commissioners to answer <br />questions. <br />1 <br /> <br />
