<br /> <br />Not Approved <br />PLANNING COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting – December 20, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br />Commissioners Larry Baker, Bruce Howard, Jim O’Brien, Norm Schiferl, and Paul <br /> <br />Zisla <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> Commissioners Karen Mann and Tom O’Keefe. <br /> <br />Also Present: <br />Grant Fernelius, Community Development Director, and Mary Burg, City <br />Council Member <br /> <br />? <br />Agenda Review <br /> : No changes <br /> <br />? <br />Approval of Minutes <br /> : The November 15, 2005 minutes were approved with the <br />following amendment: “O’Keefe inquired if there would be busing along the Old Hwy 8 <br />corridor”. <br /> <br />? <br />Council Action: <br /> City Council Member Mary Burg reported that Kraus-Anderson has <br />started demolition of Brighton Village. They have also indicated that there are several <br />tenants that are interested in the development and they hope to start construction in the <br />spring. She also reported that the Council approved the budget with an 8.4% levy <br />increase. The Department of Revenue has a program to help citizens with their taxes; it <br />is not based on income, but on the percentage of your tax increase. The telephone <br />number for that program is 651-296-3781. The Council and the Mayor went to the <br />National League of Cities Conference last week. <br /> <br />Public HearingsNC05-05 Type 4 Non-conforming use permit to expand the existing <br />: <br />th <br />single family home at 308 7 Street NW <br /> <br />Consideration of a request for a Type 4 non-conforming Use Permit in the R-1A, Single Family <br />Residential district. The subject site has a single family home that encroaches into the front yard <br />setback; the owner wishes to add a bedroom in the back. According to County records, the <br />existing house was constructed in 1886 long before current setback standards were required. It <br />appears the addition will not encroach into any setbacks. <br /> <br />CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING. <br />Motion by O’Brien, Second Schiferl by to <br /> <br />MOTION CARRIED. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays, <br /> <br /> <br />Motion by O’Brien, second by Zisla to <br />WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT THE <br />RECOMMENDINGAPPROVAL NC05-05 <br />, with the <br />ATTACHED RESOLUTION OF <br />following changes: “4.
