<br /> <br />Approved <br />PLANNING COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting – July 18, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br />Commissioners Larry Baker, Bruce Howard, Karen Mann, Norm Schiferl, <br /> <br /> and Paul Zisla. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> Jim O’Brien, and Tom O’Keefe. <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> Council Member Sharon Doffing, Grant Fernelius, Community Development <br />Director, and Janice Gundlach, City Planner. <br /> <br />Agenda Review: <br />Agenda approved. <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />: The May 16, 2006 and June 20, 2006 were presented for approval and <br /> <br />were approved. <br /> <br /> Sathe Executive Search was <br />Council Action: <br /> Council Member Doffing reported the firm <br />approved to conduct the search for the new City Manager. The Council also approved a <br />survey of residents regarding taxes and services that the City offers. The next budget <br />meeting will be August 7, 2006 at 4:30 pm in a work session format and the public is <br />welcomed to attend that meeting. <br /> <br />Zisla inquired if the Council took any action on Limu Coffee. Council Member Doffing <br />reported that they did not take action. Zisla inquired if there was any discussion at the <br />meeting regarding the application. Council Member Doffing replied that the Council <br />decided that there were too many proposals and sent it back to staff to reevaluate the <br />application. <br /> <br /> <br />SP2006-011 Special Use Permit to Allow One-Day Car Sale Events <br />Public Hearings: <br />for CU Companies <br /> <br />The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit to conduct a one-day vehicle sale event <br />on October 14, 2006. Vehicle sales are a specially permitted use within all business- <br />zoned districts requiring review and approval of a Special Use Permit. The applicant <br />received approval for a similar event on July 26, 2005. That approval allowed for two <br />events, one in the fall of 2005, and one in the spring of 2006. The applicant conducted <br />those sales events and no problems were reported to the Planning or Public Safety <br />Departments. <br /> <br />Staff would also recommend that the Planning Commission consider approving a <br />Resolution that would allow for 2 sale events per calendar year in perpetuity, one in the <br />I:\COMMISSIONS\PLANNING\Minutes\2006\07-18-2006.docPage 1 of 13 <br /> <br />
