City Council. <br />Financial Impact: <br />NA <br />Explanation: <br />The Minnesota Recreation and Park Association selected the New Brighton Parks, Recreation., <br />and Trails Strategic Plan as a 2007 Award of Excellence recipient. The Strategic Plan is a ten <br />year plan which is guiding the City of New Brighton Parks and Recreation Department and will <br />advocate parks and recreation while enriching the lives of the residents within the New Brighton <br />community. The department, along with the Parks, Recreation, and Environmental Commission <br />(PREC), met extensively to detail drafts of Vision, Mission, Commitment Statements, Strategies, <br />and Actions and helped determine priorities for implementation of the Strategic Plan. <br />The Strategic Plan looks at city-wide recreation while focusing on six primary topic areas. These <br />topic areas were selected for emphasis due to their current and anticipated needs and to best <br />serve the New Brighton community and visitors. These primary topic areas include: <br />1. Parks Evaluation Focus Area <br />2. Trails & Sidewalk Strategic Plan <br />3. Brightwood Hills Golf Course Operations and Marketing Strategy <br />4.
