<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 0 MINUTES <br /> New Brighton Economic Development Commission <br /> Regular Meeting - July 10, 2007 <br /> 7:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> Members/Liaisons Present: Dennis Flahave, Lisa Harreld, Annie Hoffman, John Kauthold, Steve Larson, <br /> Jim Sculthorp, and Jim Witkowski. <br /> <br /> Members/Liaisons Absent: Bob Benke, Gene Delaune, Linda Harmon, Mark Nelson, and Gary Stang. <br /> <br /> Staff Present: Dean Lotter, Grant Fernelius, David Black, and Jennifer Lavandowska. <br /> <br /> Others Present: Cynthia Lesher. <br /> <br /> Call to Order <br /> John Kauthold called the meeting to order at 7:10 a.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> The minutes of the June 12, 2007 meeting were deferred until the next meeting due to the lack of a quorum. <br /> <br /> <br /> enouncement <br /> Kauthold announced that Harreld will be leaving the EDC to join the Parks and Recreation Commission in <br /> August. He thanked Harreld for her dedication to the Commission. Harreld replied she has enjoyed her time on <br /> the Commission and is looking forward to her new assignment. <br /> <br /> Hoffman introduced Cynthia Lesher, who will be filling the vacated Commission seat. Hoffman added that <br /> Lesher is the President and CEO of Northern States Power Company - Minnesota and will serve as president of <br /> the host committee for the 2008 Republican National Convention. <br /> <br /> <br /> Commission Priorities and Goals <br /> Black reported that the Council has reviewed the goals that the EDC generated in March. The Council has <br /> placed a low priority on discussion of commission goals, since they are very busy with budget and ongoing <br /> redevelopment proposals. Lotter added that the review may happen at the beginning of next year. Kauthold <br /> suggested that in October or November the Commission set goals and a mission statement for the Commission <br /> to give to the Council. <br /> <br /> <br /> Northwest Quadrant Report <br /> West Side Site Plans <br /> Black reported that a positive meeting was held with the PCA recently. Staff is still working on the basic <br /> amework for the work plan, which will include groundwater testing and remediation. The City will be <br /> Jouired to install nine wells to monitor the groundwater, in order to make sure containments are not reaching <br /> nearby surface water bodies. Flahave asked how deep the wells will need to be placed. Fernelius replied that <br /> seven of the wells will be above the clay level and two will be at the aquifer level, which is three hundred feet <br /> Page 1 of 4 <br />
