1903 19th Street N. W.
New Brighton, MN. 55112
February 28, 1977
Mr. Barry Johnson
City Hall
City of New Brighton
803-5th Avenue N. W.
New Brighton, MN. 55112
Dear Sir,
I want to r6gister my strong objections to Phase 3 of the HRA proposal
for redevelopment of old New Brighton. This is the section where
existing business on the west side of Old Highway 8, south of Sixth
Street would be removed to make way for multi unit housing.
The reasons for my objection are:
1. The buildings to be torn down are respectible looking. The ones
on the other side of the street are not.
2. The costs of buying those businesses and tearing them down cannot
be justified because the multi-family units could just as easily
be built on the other side of the road with less business disruption.
3. I question the impact of bringing new numbers of families into that
area considering the impact those children would have on the school
census for the area with the closing of Old Mew, Bri ghtton „1. ent ry
school next year.
To.repeat, it is simply stupid to buy and tear respectible existing business
to build something new when that something new can be built across the
road. Money can be saved in acquisition of property and destruction of
buildings.
Yours sincerely,
Ronna Ruth Cress
Copy to Mayor Bromander
