Public Safety Commission <br />June 27, 2007 <br />Attending: Commissioner Kerns, Commissioner Allen, Commissioner <br />Bredenbeck, Commissioner Elwell, Commissioner Grimshaw, <br />Commissioner Kelly, Commissioner Schumann, Commissioner <br />Woods, Director Jacobson <br />Absent: Commissioner Tollefson, Council Member Bauman <br />Roll Call/Call to Order <br />Commissioner Kerns called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. <br />March Meeting Minutes <br />The May 30, 2007 meeting minutes were reviewed. Commissioner Allen made a motion <br />to accept the minute; Commissioner Schumann seconded. Motion carried. <br />Updates <br />CERT/Citizen Corps Council <br />Director Jacobson advised the Comml Toners that a grant has been applied for in excess <br />of $30,000, but, the likely award will be about $13,000., This will help supplement <br />VIPS, Crime Watch, CELT, and other criine prevention programs. <br />Also, police officers are handing oul: packetti of information for National Night Out to <br />their Crime Watch Captains. National Night Out will be on Tuesday, August 7Ih. <br />Department Reports <br />Human Rights <br />No updates or incidents to repoil. <br />Allina Medical <br />No report. <br />Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br />Commissioner Woods had an extensive report on the activity of VIPS to include working <br />on National Night Out preparations, planning for Stockyard. Days, and working on graffiti <br />abatement and the well house watch program. Commissioners Woods also noted that <br />VIPS would be assisting with a Red Cross blood drive at the Public Safety Center on <br />September 5t'.
