C_ _ <br />This is an artist's drawing of the sus- <br />pect Edina police are searching for in <br />an aggravated assault case. <br />y an n o t e mg t after threatening to blast one person. <br />The bizarre incident began innocently enough. <br />Susan McKenna heard"the doorbell ring at the front door ofher parents <br />home at 5603 Benton Ave. last week and saw a stranger. <br />"Would you mind letting me in, I'd like to use your telephone," McKenna <br />remembers the man saying.. <br />The dark-haired, mustached man told her that his car had a flat tire, and <br />he needed to call for help. <br />But Susan McKenna became suspicious and told him to wait outside <br />while she went downstairs to talk to her parents, police said. <br />Then — before they could return upstairs — the McKenna s heard foots- <br />teps, and Susan ran into the closet, police records show <br />After demanding to see the young woman, the stranger warned the <br />McKennas to "open the closet door or I'll shoot." <br />The woman's father, Robert J. McKenna, attempted to calm down the in- <br />truder and his daughter escaped to a neighbor's home next door, police <br />said. <br />While the man — 5 -foot, 10 -inches tall — pointed a,22 caliber rifle at the <br />couple, McKenna began struggling with him. Finally, on the front porch <br />Edina police are searching for this <br />man as a suspect in an aggravated <br />assault case last week. <br />The above is only one example of your Edina Crime Prevention Fund in action.
