Council Pr:cee ings <br />5 <br />City of New Bighton <br />'Feb. 10, 19`76 <br />,? <br />Attorney° -stated bearing was properly called <br />t <br />The City Manager noted that the Council had received <br />a completeapplicationmeeting all ordinance <br />requirements relative to a- liquor license. <br />Liquor <br />F <br />The Building. and Planning Coordinator reviewed the <br />License <br />building and plat plans for the proposed restaurant. <br />Mr.Ken Nordby,'architect for the applicant, reviewed <br />the interior layout for the proposed restaurant. <br />Stockman's <br />Mr. Jack Welsh,_applicant, stated that he had been in <br />Restaurant <br />therestaurant business for most of his life and that <br />this proposed restaurant would involve $300 to $350 <br />thousand dollar, expenditure. <br />Letter -Salem <br />Motion.by Werdousehegg, seconded by Fisher to receive <br />Baptist <br />letter from Salem Baptist Church, dated Feb.9, 1976 <br />Church t <br />.5. ayes - 0 nayes- carried <br />i <br />Mr. Jack Schable, 2113 29th Avenue N.V,,, stated <br />j <br />;. <br />oppos.ition to the proposed liquor license. He noted that <br />other <br />businesses in the area were in trouble and that this <br />restaurant may not be able to make it at this site. <br />He further expressed concern with additional traffic <br />in.the area and that he di3 not feel it wise to locate <br />such a facility in the area. <br />Ellen Citron, 2712 Rice Creek Terrace, presented a <br />petition. to the Council <br />Motion by Werdouschegg, seconded by Fisher to receive <br />petition <br />E <br />5 ayes - 0 naye - carried <br />Dr. Carl Christenson, 2392 Rice Creek Terrace, opposed the � <br />concept of placing a liquor establishment in this area <br />noting concerns with pedestrian safety and the proximity <br />of the site bordering residential area. <br />Bill Sherman, 29th Avenue and Lississippi Street, <br />stated opposition to the license, reiterating the <br />effect on residential area and the danger to the <br />children in the area. <br />i <br />Robert Fellegy, 2746 Rice Creek Terrace, stated that <br />f <br />I <br />there was a large number of restaurants close to this <br />location and that this restaurant was, therefore, not needed. <br />He additionally expressed concern about the proposed <br />location of the restaurant in a residential area. <br />o_ <br />i <br />
