GREATER NEW BRIGHTON BUSINESS ASSOCIATION
FROM THE HEART OF THE TWIN CITY AREA
NEW BRIGHTON MINNESOTA
REGEIVE'D
November 9, 1976 NOV G 1976
CITY Of IwE3 BRIGHTON
New Brighton City Council
803 - 5th Avenue N.W.
New Brighton, Minnesota 55112
Subject: Intersection of 5th Ave. N.W. and 8th Ave. N.W.
Gentlemen:
We would like to call your attention to the safety hazard that
we feel has been created at this intersection by placing the stop
sign on 8th Avenue. Due to lack of vision caused by the re-
taining wall to the north, there is not enough lead time to com-
plete a left hand -turn after stopping.
We offer two possible solutions to the above problem:
1. Place the existing stop sign on 5th Avenue which
would give better vision at the intersection.
2, place an additional stop sign on 5th Avenue stopping
the traffic going north.
A number of our members have had close calls at this intersection
simply because of the blind spot created by the retaining wail.
While we realize the responsibility for this problem lies with the
County, any action by the City of New Brighton Council we are sure
would help to eliminate the problem.
Very truly yours,
NEW BRIGHTON BUSINESS ASSOCIATION
Y, — , ;Zy—
Larr J. Karlen, President
LJK:d
