~~ <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />Pursuant to due call and published notice thereof, a special meeting of <br />the New Brighton City Council was held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov.. 30, <br />1976, in the Municipal Building 803 5th Avenue N.W. to oonsider <br />revisions to the sign ordinance <br />Presents Mayor Gayle C. Bromander, Councilmen Gene Fisher, <br />Paul Hardt, Jim Senden, Fritz Werdouschegg <br />Also Present: Thomas F. Lewcock, City Manager; James F. Winkels, <br />City Planner <br />The City Manager reviewed the revisions to the sign ordinance as <br />earlier directed by the City Council and as contained in the <br />City Manager's report dated 0 ctober 8, 1976. <br />The above noted report was received by the Council at the meeting <br />of October 26,1976. A copy of this report is again attached to <br />the minutes for reference purposes. <br />The following motions by the Council are explicitly in reference <br />to the revisions contained in the report dated October 8, 1976, <br />unless otherwise indicated, and each motion includes a direction to the <br />administration to prepare an ordinance revision according to such <br />motions. <br />Motion by Hardt, seconded by Senden to approve revision for <br />Section 14-030 b 7, with such revision being amended by <br />eliminating 15 foot setback requirement. <br />3 ayes - 2 nayes (Fisher, Werdouschegg) - carried <br />Motion by Senden, seconded by Hardt to approve revisions to <br />Section 14-030 b 8, with such revision being amended by <br />eliminating the 15 foot setback requirement. <br />3 ayes - 2 nayes (Fisher, Werdouschegg) motion carried <br />Motion by Bromander, seconded by Senden to amend amended <br />revision to Section 14-030 b S, by requiring that campaign signs <br />of 32 sq. foot be set back a distance equal to 1/3 the <br />district setback requirement. <br />4 ayes- - 1 naye (Werdouschegg) - carried <br />Lois Hoium, 684 19th Avenue, stated that she believes the Council <br />should liberalize the rummage sale regulations. She stated the City <br />should not pick up signs but rather should understand the feelings <br />of the people of the community. <br />Mrs. Robert Glass, 28 Oakwood Drive, stated that garage sale signs <br />and retail signs should not be considered in the same class. <br />
