October 23, 2007- Page 4 <br />Councilmember Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman announced the Fire Department is hosting an open <br />house Monday, October 29th, October is Fire Prevention month, all school were <br />visited by the fire department. The City of New Brighton was awarded third <br />place nationally in National Night Out activities, and first place in Minnesota. <br />The Public Safety Commission meeting will include a presentation from Officer <br />McNeely related to the Area Learning Center. Tony Paetznick was appointed to <br />Fire Captain. <br />Councilmember Doffing <br />Councilmember Doffing expressed her gratitude to the City Manager for an <br />earlier meeting. <br />Councilmember Bury <br />Councilmember Burg reported the City's website has been updated to include <br />additional information related to the Northwest Quadrant. The Parks, Recreation <br />and Environmental Commission is scheduled to meet November 7`h; with the final <br />Trails Committee meeting scheduled at 4:00. <br />Councilmember Hoffman <br />Community Partners with Youth will host their annual fundraiser at The <br />Mermaid Thursday, October 25`h. The Economic Development Commission will <br />meet next on November 8, 2007. <br />Mayor Larson <br />Mayor Larson will be attending a Transportation Summit and the Community <br />Partners with Youth fundraiser October 25th <br />Executive Session <br />City Attorney Charlie Lefevere explained that the discussion related to possible <br />litigation would not be in the public interest to have that discussion between <br />Legal Council and the City Council public. It is at the discretion of the City <br />Council to move into Executive Session; this action would require a motion and a <br />second <br />Motion by Councilmember Burg, seconded by Councilmember Hoffman to <br />move into Executive Session. <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />Motion by Councilmember Bauman, seconded by Councilmember Hoffman to <br />authorize commencement of litigation against Rottlund Companies, Inc. for <br />breach of contract. <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />
