To authorize the expenditure of up to $50,000 for the maintenance work on Well 14 and Well 15 and <br /> installation of drawdown transducer on well pump 15. <br /> Legislative History: August 22, 2007 Maintenance work on New Brighton Well 14 and Well 15 has been <br /> approved in the United States Army annual budget for off site groundwater remediation activities in New <br /> Brighton at our annual meeting. <br /> <br /> Financial Impact: The following quotations were received for the well maintenance work: <br /> <br /> Wells 14 and 15 <br /> Keys Well Drilling $30,945.00 <br /> Bergerson Caswell $35,370.50 <br /> E.H. Renner & Sons $35,872.00 <br /> • The quotations are based on estimated work and unit prices for parts that may be required. The actual cost per <br /> well typically runs in the neighborhood of about $30,000 per well. If unexpected major parts need to be replaced <br /> or if the well needs to be cleaned of sand the cost would be higher than $30,000. Staff recommends that Council <br /> authorizes the expenditure of up to $50,000, and if any of the final cost exceeds $50,000 we will report back to <br /> the Council for further authorization. All of the above contractors have preformed satisfactorily on past City <br /> work and staff recommends that maintenance work for Well 14 and Well 15 be awarded to Keys Well Drilling. <br /> <br /> Explanation: The purpose of this item is to obtain Council authorization to proceed with routine maintenance <br /> and repair work well pump 14 and 15. The majority of the work will be routine maintenance consisting of <br /> pulling the well pump, inspecting it, replacing worn and corroded parts and reinstalling the pumps. A well <br /> drawdown transducer will also be installed in Well 15. <br /> City Well #14 located at 1377 7th Street NW and has produced 1.01 billion gallons since it was last maintenance <br /> in March of 2005. City Well #15 is located at 590 20`h Avenue NW and has produced 1.03 billion gallons since it <br /> was last serviced in March 2004.
