Jacobson, Director of Public Safety <br />CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report~~~Comments attached <br />Recommendation: <br />Accept the 2007 National Association of Town Watch Target National Night Out Award <br />signifying our 3rd Place Finish in the Nation for National Night Out Activities. <br />Legislative History: <br />N/A <br />Financial Impact: <br />N/A <br />Explanation: <br />The City of New Brighton has been recognized for finishing 3rd in the Nation for cities of 15,000 <br />to 49,999 for our National Night Out activities. The City of New Brighton has a strong history <br />of high performance in all areas of community involvement with a special emphasis on National <br />Night Out. New Brighton has finished in the top five in the nation for the past eight years <br />(including 1St place in 2005) and has been in the top 25 every year for thirteen years! The City of <br />New Brighton had more than 10,000 residents with the opportunity to participate in more than <br />135 parties' city wide. And, participation from Council, City Staff, Commission and <br />Community members resulted in more than 50 volunteers visiting our neighborhood parties. Our <br />activity included assistance from 160 neighborhood crime watch Captain and 80 co-captains, <br />4,000 residential units served, 150 Target "Get Ready" bags delivered, 1500 complimentary <br />passes to The Park at Mall of America distributed, 900 ice cream certificates from Cold Stone <br />Creamery delivered, 200 NNO mini-basketballs handed out, 400 boxes of crayons distributed, <br />$823.67 of five quart pails of donated ice cream from Cub Foods, 27 municipal vehicles used, <br />$300 in cash donations and 3,122 lbs of goods collected for the food shelf, 1050 glow necklaces <br />distributed, 1000 Fire Chief helmets handed out, with 80 NNO 2007 t-shirts handed out to staff <br />and volunteers with a high temp of 92 degrees for the day! ! <br />.,- <br />Robert J. acobson <br />Director of Public Safety <br />H'\CRIMEPRE\NNO\2007\Draft Council Repon.doc <br />
