Jacobson, Director of Public <br />CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report Comments attached <br />Recommendation: <br />Accept the donation from Bell Lumber and Pole Company in the amount of $50,000 for the <br />purpose of use in the Santa Cop program for the City of New Brighton. <br />Legislative History: <br />N/A <br />Financial Impact: <br />. Donation of $50,000 to continue the Santa Cop program. <br />Explanation: <br />On January 3, 2008, Mr. Tom Bell, owner of Bell Lumber and Pole of New Brighton, donated a <br />check in the amount of $50,000 to the City of New Brighton for the Santa Cop program. The <br />New Brighton Santa Cop program began in 1995, and, has served approximately 500 families <br />and 2000 children from the New .Brighton area during those 12 years of existence. And, this <br />program has enabled our members of public safety to serve those in the community who are in <br />need during the holiday season. Mr. Tom Bell and Bell Lumber and Pole have indicated that <br />they wish to support the continuation of this program which has costs in excess of $10,000 <br />annually.
