Currently this structure is 18 yrs old and needs to be replaced. This
playground structure has been reviewed by the Parks, Recreation, and Environmental
Commission at their April 2nd meeting.
Financial Impact:
403 -parks improvement fund (non -fleet) has $39,000 budgeted to pay for the replace of the
playground structure at Veterans Park. This playground structure would be purchased from
• Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground.
Structure Cost $29,999
(Includes Tax, Freight, Installation)
The remaining $9,000 is needed to purchase wood fiber, border/trim around the structure and
other incidental items. Total cost of project is not to exceed $39,000.
Explanation:
Per the City of New Brighton's purchasing policy, purchases $10,000 - $50,000 can require a
quotation process. The Parks and Recreation Department received multiple quotations from
four separate vendors. Based on the numbers of play features and other considerations, staff
recommended this vendor as their preferred choice to the Parks, Recreation, and
Environmental Commission. The Minnesota/Wisconsin playstructure has a suspension bridge,
4 slides, 4 play decks ranging from 2 feet - 8 feet, 8 foot rock climbing wall, a Sky Runner
(to replace the tire swing), and the Powerscape/Powerlock connections which will reduce the
amount of hardware used and help prevent vandalism. With all of these features, this structure
supersedes the other vendors that provided quotations.
Chris Wolla
Parks Maintenance Manager
I ,,COLNCIL,¢i RTSI00TN and RecreatiorVAulo [ P chaze ofa PIYuod Sw= for VHam's Pa.dac
