'" I RESOLUTION NO. 2170 <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> COUNT1 OF RAMSEY <br /> CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> RESOLUTION EXPRESSING CITY CONCERN WITH PEDESTRIAN SAFETY AND <br /> ROADWAY CAPACITY OF SILVER LAKE ROAD BRIDGE CROSSING 1-694 <br /> I <br /> WHEREAS the Silver Lake Road Highway Bridge crossing 1-694 <br /> has sidewalks abutting the driving surface to facilitate <br /> pedestrian traffic, and <br /> WHEREAS City sidewalks exist on the east side of Silver <br /> Lake Road both north and south of 1-694 which are extensively <br /> used, and <br /> I, WHEREAS during the winter months snow from the driving <br /> lanes is deposited on the pedestrian walking area of the bridge <br /> for extended periods of time causing extreme danger to citizens <br /> and to school children who must traverse this walkway twice <br /> daily to and from school, often when the snow is piled so high <br /> that a slip could mean sliding onto the driving surface of <br /> Silver Lake Road or worse yet over the guard rail and down onto <br /> 1-694, and <br /> WHEREAS high traffic volume and projected severe congestion <br /> on Silver Lake Road indicates the need for additional bridge <br /> roadway capacity, and <br /> WHEREAS Silver Lake Road is a Ramsey County Road and the <br /> Silver Lake Road bridge is a State-owned facility <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOVLED by the Council of the City of <br /> New Brighton, That Ramsey County and the State of Minnesota be <br /> and are hereby requested to investigate any possible means <br /> available to improve the safety of the pedestrianway on the <br /> bridge crossing 1-694 at Silver Lake Road and also the need for <br /> I additional roadway capacity at this bridge location. <br /> II BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Clerk be and is <br /> I hereby instructed to forward copies of this resolution to the <br /> appropriate County and State officials. <br /> I Adopted this 27th day of February, 1979. <br /> I <br /> I <br /> II ATTEST: J qtt)e s <br /> II .~/ <br /> II <br /> I, <br /> i <br /> I ~~ <br /> I' <br /> Ii Vernon C.
