RESOLUTION NO. 894 <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> VILLAGE OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> RESOLUTION REQUESTING RAMSEY COUNTY TO INSTALL STANDARD STOP SIGN~: <br /> ON 8TH AVENUE N.W. AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH 7TH STREET N.W. <br /> WHEREAS there has resulted a si<:1Jnificant increase in traffic <br /> on 8th Avenue N.W. (Long Lake Road) as a result of the completion <br /> of I.....694, and <br /> WHEREAS present traffic flows are constant and heavy, and <br /> WHEREAS New Brighton Elementary School is located adjacent <br /> to and east of this intersectioh, and <br /> WHEREAS there exists, at this intersection, temporary type <br /> stop signs, stop signs which exist only during hours of school <br /> classes, and <br /> WHEREAS many school children must walk through this inter- <br /> section to school and to the school playgrounds, and <br /> WHEREAS the safety of these children is important at all <br /> hours of the day, and <br /> WHEREAS t~~s tYPe of stop sign is not contained within the <br /> Minnesota Manual of Unifonn Traffic Control Devices, and <br /> WHEREAS thes.e temporary signs do not promote traffic safety, <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS during periods of heavy traffic, there exists stacking <br /> of traffic on 7th Street N. W. which is attempting to:make a left <br /> hand turning. movement <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the New Brighton Village <br /> Council hereby petition the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners <br /> to hav. the temporary type stop signs on 8th Avenue N.W. at the <br /> intersection of 7th Street N.W. replced with stop signs meeting <br /> standards of the Minnesota Manual of Uniform Traffic Control <br /> Devices. <br /> Adopted by the New Brighton Village Council this 24th day of <br /> November, 1970 <br /> ATTEST: .
