<br /> '~\ .or n <br />~ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 936 <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> VILLAGE OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO SENATE FILE NO. 1204 RELATING TO THE <br /> FREEZlNG OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROPERTY'TAXES AT A DOLLAR AMOUNT <br /> WHEREAS the Village Council 0+ the Village of New Brighton <br /> is the official governing body of the Village of ~ew Brighton, and <br /> WHEREAS the Village council has reviewed a bill designated <br /> Senate File No. 1204 relating to the freezing of property taxes <br /> at a dollar amount, and <br /> WHEREAS it is the opinion of the Village of New Brighton that <br /> 'enqctment of such a bill would makei~ difficult or i~possible to <br /> continue to provide the same 'level and quality of municipal <br />>, services in future years, and. <br /> WHEREAS the Village Council is of the opinion that the <br /> adoption of Senate File No. 1204,woulCi not be in the best interests <br /> of the citizens ,of the Village of New Brighton <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the village Council of the <br /> Village of New Brighton, Minnesotath,at the Village Council <br /> strenuously objects to the enactmentpof Senate File No. 1204. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village <br /> of New Brighton that the Village Counc~l recognizes the need for <br /> and endorses the ?esir9-bili~ pf ,..p:J;O:G?~ts"t.y:tax relief. However, <br /> the Village Council is opppsed' to "any ,'fiprm . of arbitrary limitation;:; <br /> . on important revenue : sources~~ where alternative sources of revenue <br /> are not made'ava'4.l,ab1e to l?;ro~j.qe for fJJ;'o~th" i:Qflationary <br /> tendencies, b':t' increasing pen~ion and ''P.et;,irem.ent fund financial <br /> requirements "over which' 'the' vtrlage 'bas nlY dorttrol <br /> BE IT FURTHER 'RESOLVEDthattlie\::Y'i.1.1~ge,Map.ager is hereby <br /> directed to forward copies of this resolution to the Honorable <br /> Robert Ashbach and the Honorable Richard A.
