'- Ilk <br />'. <~ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 1070 <br />~.;, <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> VILLAGE OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A NEW BRIGHTON WATERWAYS STUDY <br />WHEREAS the citizens of the Village of New Brighton have <br /> become increasingly concerned with the state of the community <br /> lakes and wa,terways,and <br />WHEREAs~rbah~z~tion and ~~velopm~nt of the community has <br /> resulted in a dete~i6ration of its J.,.akes.and waterways, and <br />WFIEREAS"'~l.1ch,de't~rior~-el'on repr~setlts,a j)C!:>tential lossl of <br /> one of the community' s.most '.valuable assets,' 'and <br /> ",' <br />WHEREAS ;"presE;!ryationand re~torati9nc p$; these assets is best <br /> accomplished in the interest of the village of New Brighton~ if <br /> knowledgea.ble, New Brighton citizens are encouraged to participate <br /> in the deCision-making process,. <br />NOW. nu:REFQRE BE IT' RESOLVED, That the Village Council of the <br /> village of,New Brighton does hereby direct that ,THE NEW BRIGHTON <br /> COMMUNITY BETTERMENT TASK FORCE initiate a New Brighton Waterways <br /> Study. This study should include, but. not be limited to, the <br /> fOllowing topics. <br />1. An inventory of the physical, biological, and asthetic <br /> properties of the major waterways in the community as they <br /> change with the seasOns. <br />2. A comprehensive review of: the flood plain management <br /> stano.ards as defined by Minnesota Statutes 1969, <br /> paragraph 104:05; model flood plain management ordinances; <br /> and the Corps of Engineers report entitled, "Flood Plain <br /> Information...,. Fridley and New Brighton, Minnesota." Said <br /> review anft study to provide information for a recommended <br /> New Brighton Flood Plain Management Ordinance. <br />3. Study, review and recommendations concerning proposed <br /> changE;!s to the Ramsey County Ditch Law <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the village council of the <br /> villag.e of New Brighton considers the initiation of this study as <br /> a first step in the process Of preserving and reclaiming its <br /> waterways system; a task to which it is dedicated. <br /> AdoptE;!d by the Village counci,l this 9th day of May 1972. <br /> tfr~~ <br /> ATTEST: Gayl .
