<br />, ... <br /> -- .. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 1220 <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> VILLAGE OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />RES.OLUTION REQm;:STIN'G "LEGISLATIVE SUPPORfFOR INCREASED STATE <br />PARK AND OPEN SPACE FUND:EN,G <br /> '0 ,. . ' ..1' <br /> WHEREAS the State of Minnesota has recognized the importance <br />of parks, recreation, and open space in the quality of life for <br />the residents of Minnesota, and has assigned ~ high priority to <br />the provision of said parks, recreation, and open space areas and <br />:facilities, and <br /> WHEREAS the State Legislature has established a Natural <br />Resources Fund in the amount of $9,750,000 for the. last biennium <br />fot'" regional and local park, recreation, and open space needs to <br />be used to match federal gr~nt assistance for said prog:r:ams, and <br /> 'WHEREAS federal allocations for parks, recreation"and open <br />space programs have been reduced from approximately $6,000,000 in <br />the last biennium to an anticipated $400,000 for the Federal <br />GoV'ern~ent's fiscal year 1974, and <br /> WHEREAS demands for parks, recreation, and open space have <br />increased substantially, th'$s requiring a greater effort on the <br />part of all units and levels of government to meet this demand <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED , That the New Brighton Village <br />Council does hereby request the .Minnesota state Legislature to <br />appropripte an amount of at least $5,000,000 to the Local <br />Assistance Account of the Natural Resource Fund, otherwise <br />referred to as paragraph g. These monies to be distributed to <br />municipalities within the State of Minnesota by the state Planning <br />Agency, Office of Local and Urban Affairs, on a 50-50 ~atching <br />basis to assist in meeting the park, recreation, and open space <br />needs of the State of Minnesota, said monies to be distributed to <br />municipalities without regard to federal grant assistance. <br />Adopted this 8th Day of May 1973. <br /> . <br /> Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br /> / <br /> ~ /, <br />_~e Q;~ / - ~' <br /> '_ .... /'121l/L~/"= wctck. <br /> Thomas F.
