Diana S. Eagon presided. Those present were: Diana S. Eagon Donald A. Anderson Gene Fisher Paul Rebe1ein Absent: Gayle C. Bromander The following resolution was introduced by Mr. Gene Fisher who moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 1393, . A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FO,R A, HEARING TO DETERMINE THE NEED FOR A HOUSING AND REPEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY TO FUNCTION 'iN NEW BRIGHTON, MINNESOTA WHEREAS, the Minnesota Housing and Redevelopment Act, Chapter 487, Minnesota Session Laws of 1947, creates a "Housing and Redevelopment Authority" in each city, village and borough, and provides that such an Authority shall not transact any business or exercise its powers until the governing body of the city, village or borough by resolution shall determine that there is need for an Authority to function in such city, village or borough, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Counc il of the City of New Brighton, Minnesota: That on the 27th day of August, 1974, at 8:05 o'clock p.m. at the Municipal Building, being the time and place of the next regular meeting of the City Council of New Brighton, Minnesota, this body shall determine: (a) Whether substandard areas exist in New Brighton Minnesota, which cannot be redeveloped without government assistance; (b) Whether adequate housing accommodations are not available to veterans and servicemen and their families; or (c) Whether there is a shortage of decent, safe, and sanitary dwelling accommodations in New Brighton, Minnesota, available to persons of low income a~ rentals they can afford. That at such meeting a public hearing will be held on these matters.
