It was Mr. <br />Phillips understanding that in lieu ofthe City's financial commitments the council would forego this <br />opportunity. Councilmember Bauman recalled that she participated her fust year as a councilmember, <br />and thought councihnember Phillips would be the logical delegate. It was reported that conference <br />information was distributed to all council members. <br />Motion by Councilmember Philips, seconded by Councilmember Bauman to deny the out of <br />state travel for Councilmember Burg as requested, because discussion has not occurred. <br />2 Ayes —1 Nays, l Abstention, Motion Carried <br />' Ayes: Councilmembers Bauman, Doffing and Phillips <br />Nay: Mayor Larson <br />Abstention: Councilmember Burg <br />Councilmember Burg stated her fiustration, and suggested all councilmernber's make a point to attend <br />offered conferences. <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates: <br />Dean Lotter <br />Mr. Lotter reported the Met Council has recommended approval the City's grant request for <br />$1.4 million to be used in the Northwest Quadrant An article in a recent "Minneapolis, St Paul" <br />magazine was shared, highlighting New Brighton as a favorable coimmunity. <br />Councilmember Doffing—Public Safety Commission <br />Councilmember Doffing reported it would have been her preference to wait until a scheduled team <br />building meeting to discuss some ongoing contentious discussions. Several members of the Public <br />Safety Department participated in the Special Olympics torch run, along with many participating in <br />Grandma's Marathon in Duluth The Public Safety Commission will next meet June 25 at the Public <br />Safety Center.
