MINUTES <br />New Brighton Economic Development Commission <br />Regular Meeting — July 1, 2008 <br />7:00 a.m. <br />Members/Liaisons Present: Bob Benke, Mary Burg, Dennis Flahave, Linda Harmon, Cynthia Lesher, Mark <br />Nelson, Tim Roche, and Jim Seulthorp. <br />Members/Liaisons Absent: None. <br />Staff Present: Grant Femelius, David Black, and Jennifer Lavandowska. <br />Other Present: Jim Witkowski. <br />Call to Order <br />Nelson called the meeting to order at 7:08 a.m. <br />Approval of Minutes <br />The minutes of the June 3, 2008 meeting were presented for approval. All approved. <br />Report from Council Liaison <br />*ouncit Member Burg reported that the Council and staff recently toured a Sheraton hotel located in Woodbury. <br />his hotel would be similar to what is being proposed by the developer for Block A. She stated that the quality <br />of the hotel was excellent and Council is excited about this project. <br />Commission Organization <br />Black announced that John Kaufhold was removed from the Commission by the Council at the June 10`x' <br />Council meeting. Harmon noted that the opening is posted on the City's website. <br />Northwest Quadrant Report <br />General <br />Black reported that the Northwest Quadrant e-mail newsletter went out live last month. The newsletter is <br />expected to increase the amount of people receiving information concerning the development and staff is <br />looking for any feedback. <br />Fernelius reported that he completed the second of two presentations to the NWQ Financial Task Force <br />regarding the development's history. The task force would be holding a joint meeting with Council on July 7t" <br />when it is anticipated that task force's role would be better defined. Sculthorp asked when the task force would <br />be expected to get into the Sources and Uses. Fernelius replied that staff is preparing that information for the <br />second meeting of July. <br />West Side <br />lack reported that staff has been touring several Sherman Associates and Stuart Corporation developments. <br />Sherman has proposed a senior assisted living center and senior rentals.
