Jacobson, Director of Public Safety <br />CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br />to suaDlement this <br />Recommendation: <br />attached <br />Approval of the grant contract with the Commissioner of Public Safety, Division of Homeland <br />Security and Emergency Management <br />Legislative History: <br />Federal funds are provided by the United States Department of Homeland Security, through the <br />2007 Homeland Security Grant Program, Award Number 2007 -GE -T7-0027, for the Citizen <br />Corps Program. <br />Financial Impact: <br />The City will receive $6,487.40 for training, equipment, and personnel costs associated with the <br />Department of Public Safety's existing Citizen Corps program for Community Emergency <br />Response Teams (CERT). This funding will supplement the department's $10,000 budget for <br />crime prevention and community engagement efforts through public safety in New Brighton. <br />Explanation: <br />The State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety Division of Homeland Security and <br />Emergency Management awarded the City of New Brighton a local grant to enhance our existing <br />Citizen Corps activities.
