July 22, 2008 Page 6 of 7 <br />Mayor Larson asked what the impact would be on the hotel project on waiting for a month or two. <br />Director of Public Works, Grant Wyffels provided the following desired timeline; advertise for bids <br />. beginning of August 2008, opening of bids, August 28', award bids at September a council meeting, <br />allow 20 days to secure signed contracts with September 29, 2008 being the starting date. Any delay in <br />this process would result in the loss of the 2008 construction season, and a total delay of about 10 weeks <br />in the spring of 2009. <br />Motion by Councilmember Phillips, seconded by Councilmember Doffing to authorize the <br />advertisement of bids for City Project 07-5, Northwest Quadrant Dump Closure Plan <br />4 Ayes -1 Nays, Motion Carried <br />Ayes: Mayor Larson, Councilmember Burg, Doffing and Phillips <br />Nays: Councilmember Bauman <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates: <br />Dean Lotter <br />Mr. Lotter reported T -mobile has withdrawn their application for a cell tower in Hidden Oaks Park. <br />•The Surface Transportation Board approved the abandonment of the Butcher Spur. A reminder was <br />given that the nerd Quarterly Policy Discussion meeting will be July 20 at 5:30, at City Hall. <br />Councilmember Doffing -Public Safety Conunissfon <br />Councilmember Doffing expressed her gratitude to the council related to the eminent domain <br />ordinance. Councilmember Doffing reported that she counted 47 cases where eminent domain was <br />utilized since 1982; and feels this was a "Significant New Chapter in New Brighton's History." <br />Councilmember Phillips -Planning Commission <br />Councilmember Phillips reported the cell tower at Hidden Oaks Park has been discussed at length at the <br />recent Planning Commission meetings. Mr. Phillips stated the City has made an appropriate step in the <br />area of it's use of eminent domain, along with expressing his appreciation for Councilmember <br />Doffing's effort. <br />Councilmember Bauman -Park. Recreation & Environmental Commission <br />The Parks, Recreation and Environmental meeting did not meet in July; the next meeting is scheduled <br />for August 6, 2008. <br />Councilmember Burg -Economic Development Commission <br />Councilmember Burg reported EDC will next meet August 5h. Councilmember Burg announced the <br />Mounds View Community Theater is performing `Beauty & the Beast" Rice Creels has been opened <br />through the arsenal, and encouraged others to check it out <br />0 <br />
