• <br />• <br />August 12, 2005, 2008 Page 4 of 5 <br />Councilmember Bauman reported her preference is the current (A) path. <br />The following residents all spoke in opposition of moving the current trail to the west: <br />Dennis Guldan (563 17' Ave, NW), Norm and Pat Wells (623 17fll Ave NW), Jackie Mullaney (593 <br />17" Ave NW), Perry Martin (52717' Ave NW). <br />Councilmember Bauman questioned if the City is required to use the grant funds for the Hansen Park <br />project. Director Wyffels reported the City could consider an equally funded route that would <br />accomodate the same number of students, or the City could keep the grant open, or reject a portion of <br />the grant, or if the other 2 projects were adequately funded, an extraordinary component could be <br />added. The total estimated cost of upgrading the existing path was reported as approximately <br />$111,000. <br />Motion by Councilmember Phillips, seconded by Mayor Larson to accept the Park, Recreation <br />and Environmental Commissions recommendation to construct the Hansen Park trail, instead <br />of option "B", it be reconstructed in substantially the same alignment as it is currently; with <br />possible minor realignment in the cattail area. Additionally; approve adoption of the resolution <br />with the feasibility report authorizing the plans ands specifications and advertisement for bids. <br />Councilamember Bauman questioned the spending of an additional $50,000. Councilmember Phillips <br />replied it is his thought that the trails at Hansen Park are overdue for an upgrade, and directed staff <br />solicit for bids, and bring those results back to council at a future date, along with other funding <br />opportunities. <br />4 Ayes — 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and U tes: <br />Schawn Johnson <br />Mr. Johnson reported the City has reached a tentative agreement with OSHA. regar ding an incident <br />from 2005. <br />CounciIrnember .Doflin�,&7PubIic Safety Commission <br />Absent <br />Councilmember Phillius-Planning Commission <br />Planning Commission next meets August 19"'. Appreciation was expressed to the many residents who <br />shared their input at recent City Council meetings. <br />Councilmember Bauman -Park, Recreation & Environmental Commission <br />Councilmember Bauman was unable to attend the recent Parks, Recreation and Environmental <br />Commission meeting. The fall brochures have been circulated Park and Recreation staff attended a <br />recent carnival at Polynesian Village as part of National Night Out. Staffmembers were in the recent <br />Stockyard Days parade to promote recent equipment upgrades at the Family Service Center. Stockyard <br />Days events were attended and appreciation was expressed to city staff for their contribution to the <br />event. <br />Reports& omcen"ts <br />
