A summary <br />of the amendment along with conditions were reviewed. There was no <br />public testimony given at a Public Hearing held July 15, 2008. The <br />Planning Commission recommended unanimous approval. <br />Councilmember Phillips reported that he has noticed placement of towers <br />near the freeways throughout the metro. Councilmember Doffing <br />questioned if there are any other cell towers along 35W, Ms. Gundlach <br />reported there are three currently. <br />Motion by Councilmember Dom seconded by Councilmember Burg to waive the reading <br />and adopt the ordinance amending the City Zoning Code sections 400 (2) and (4). <br />5 Ayes — 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />2. Steve Trueman on behalf of AT&T Mobility requests <br />consideration of a Special Use Permit to allow erection of a <br />125' monopole cellular tower at 1565 1st Avenue NW. Report <br />No. 08-208. The <br />Special Use Permit would allow a 125 foot cellular tower, with an additional 10 foot <br />lightening rod, for a total of 135 feet. A Special Use analysis was reviewed, <br />neighbors within 350 feet were notified, there were no comments received. Staff <br />recommends approval with two conditions: ground equipment meets a ten foot <br />setback; and council approval of a code amendment allowing for a reduced <br />setback adjacent to I35W. Councilmember Doffing questioned the distance from <br />any residential area.
