RESOLUTION NO
08-099
CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION TO APPROVE TWO GAMETIME GRANT APPLICATIONS, AND IF
AWARDED, PURCHASE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AND GROUND MATERIALS FOR
UP TO TWO PARKS IN NEW BRIGHTON.
GameTime Playground Manufacturing Company has matching grant funds available to
assist with projects to help Fight Obesity through the Play Grant Initiative, and
the City of New Brighton is committed to improving the health and fitness of its
residents and visitors by fighting obesity, and
the current non -fleet budget has Driftwood and Vermont Park scheduled for playground
replacements, and
the above mentioned parks need approximately $40,000 in replacement equipment and
we would be requesting two $20,000 grants from GameTime, and
the grant applications are due by November 14, 2008, and
there are currently no funds reserved for the purchase of this specific equipment, and
we would apply for two grants so that potentially 50% of the cost of the play
equipment would be covered, and
these grant funds do not cover the cost of "ground materials" such as boarders,
concrete footings, wood chips, or an installation provider, and
the City will watch the grant for the purchase of the playground equipment; in this case
up to $20,000 per park. In addition the City would pay for the "ground materials"
ranging from $ 12,000-$15,000 per site depending on site size. The matching funds and
ground material costs would be provided by the additional monies available as the
reallocation of the Family Service Center debt service appropriation.
NOtials
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of New Brighton to hereby
appve two GameTime grant applications, and if awarded, purchase playground equipment &ground
ma for up to two parks in New Brighton.
Ad ted this 28th day of October, 2008
FF
A.
