Bids were opened on <br />August 28 and the Council awarded a contract to the low bidder, Veit and Company, Inc., on September <br />9th. <br />The City Council approved two change orders to the project, Change Order 1 on September 8th and <br />Change Order 2 on October 14th. These change orders are attached to the payment breakdown for your <br />information. <br />Financial Impact: Please see attached payment breakdown for details. <br />Explanation: Project 07-5 consists of work associated with the dump closure of the Old Miller Dump <br />site east of Old Highway 8 NW in the area of the Post Office. Also included is the furnishing of 50,000 <br />cubic yards of fill material on the west side Phase II of the Northwest Quadrant. This particular item was <br />added to this project since the west side environmental project needs additional fill material, and it was <br />determined by the granting agency this fill material would be reimbursable under the grant agreement. <br />The provisions of the contract with Veit and Company, Inc stipulate that the City makes a partial <br />payment to the contractor at least once each month at regular intervals on the basis of the work <br />performed during that preceding month. This partial payment shall not exceed 95 percent of the value of <br />the certified estimate. <br />Costs and Funding: The construction portion of this project is being funded from a combination of <br />funding sources including a DEED grant, a Metropolitan Council grant, and TIF Bond proceeds. <br />Grant M.
